Our Story
-
Some things have a way of coming full circle.
Leatherwork and Western life have been part of our story for a long time, but M-T Saddle Shop didn't exactly happen overnight.
Mike has been a cowboy most of his life. He's ridden pens in a feedlot, rodeoed, made rodeo chaps as a teenager, and over the years owned three saddle shops.
But the career that paid the bills and carried him through most of his working life was truck driving. Mike spent the better part of 40 years behind the wheel. He closed his last saddle shop in 2008 and went back over the road for another 18 years before finally retiring in June 2025.
Apparently, retirement didn't stick. 😂
Just a few months later, on October 1, 2025, we opened the doors to M-T Saddle Shop on Main Street in McLoud, Oklahoma.
Della has always been a maker. Her creative road has included painting and other forms of art, and leatherwork eventually brought her back to a craft she first explored in her twenties. Today, she creates many of the hand-tooled and handcrafted leather goods you'll find in the shop.
Together, we've built a place where working saddles are cared for, old saddles are given another chapter, favorite leather goods are put back into service, and new pieces are still made by hand.
We aren't interested in rushing the work or chasing what's trendy. We believe craftsmanship matters. We believe good leather gets better with age. And we believe some things are worth repairing, preserving, and passing down.
Maybe that's why this little shop feels so much like coming home.
We're keeping Western heritage alive, one stitch at a time.
